Yep, it is the Tree / Fruit scenario. Dad was banned indefinitely for sexual harassment of a female guard..... I was told personally to my face that they thought it was me ! After playing the video footage they realized who it was.... the 2 drivers dad. The one son repeatedly went in a business raising his voice and being belligerent towards the employees according to the supervisor.

I don't get not dressing appropriately for any job or occasion. People are so lazy nowadays and their children are following in their footsteps.

You should see how people at our church dress, the look like they just came off of a beach somewhere, or slept in their clothes, or haven't done laundry in a year. I don't expect a suit and tie but I at least make my son wear a collared shirt.

When I drove I always had on a clean collared shirt and jeans and steel toe boots, when I went in to the shipper or receiver I always had my shirt tucked in and talked to people like I wanted to be talked too, it's amazing how people's personality changes when your polite. It doesn't always work because some people are just DB's but folks like that I could deal with for just the little bit of time it took at the window, but that's just me.

Lemme tell y'all somethin', what you see as a kid and grow up around is going to have a profound impact on your life.

My dad is a good man, but growing up all he did was fight, always fighting people, beating up people, fighting me, etc.

All I did in highschool and young life was exactly the same, even to this day, it's all I can do to act professionally and not punch someone in the mouth.

Old habits are hard to break and the environment we surround ourselves with will make or break us.

  9. I completely understand how you present your self at a job or jobsite ect.

I came into a location to pickup medical equipment. The shipping clerk tells me she is glad I'm not the other guy.

I ask reluctantly who are you speaking of?

She doesn't say who but goes into what he said.
Complaining about his job, his lack of hours and the bad equipment he has to drive.
I'm pleasant to her I get my paperwork head to get the equipment. As I'm leaving she asks my name. I tell her, as I left.

Finish my day. But owner calls me into her office to talk. She tells me I've been requested to go back to the equipment location specifically, anytime they have a pickup.
She said what ever I did made a huge impression on the place.
Amazing what happens if your nice and professional. To bad the youth today have lost that.

Its not just trucking. Just left lumber co. 2 different guys in them swish pants and tennis shoes leave getting into pickups of rather know construction companies.
    .
I have worn work shorts in summer, still with boots. But most of the time I start the day in clean jeans and clean pocket tshirt, sometime button down collard shirt. Now I seldom look decent at end of the day. But I start it looking clean.

Half the people I know say I'm a hard a $$. The other half say I'm a nice guy. Here's the secret, the ones that say I'm a hard a-$$ are my true friends ! The ones that say I'm nice........well ya ever hear the saying keep yer enemies close ? I've had my share of fights over the years. Choose your battles well !!
