In Mi they go by the tire rating NOT by the axle rating. All of our 4 axles that run Mi/Ohio/Ind under permits have them and a ton of Mi/Ind Steel haulers run them with their trains. I wouldn't worry about the front end if its in good shape. On guy that put them on his older w 900 said it rode nicer and handled better than before with less jarring through the wheel when he hit sharp edged holes. He ran 12R22.5 before and originally had 11R24.5. Mind you these are Michelin tires so if you run cheap off brand tires your results might not be as good.

next time u roll into dot pull round back an ask them. Then you know for sure!

wouldnt you run into big issue if it blows out, do TA's or other roadside tire places carry those oddball sizes
-
all i can offer is that we run floaters on the front end of our trucks, and if u go in mud they SUCK. they do exactly what they are meant to do, and thats float. no traction at all.

Just as 05Granite said, mud or snow,it is all the same, they suck -
that's why I put mine on, for muddy fields. now instead of being sunk in up to my axle, I just float across the top and can't turn.
as far as on road driving they suck in the rain.

I've decided against it, the bad seems to outweigh the good for OTR use. I'll keep'em around, been looking for a 359 or 900A daycab.

The turning or lack of is more because of the tread design than the width.
My question would be is can I get the wider tire for these rims with a lower load rating? -
