Hey all, first off.. I'll begin by saying yes, it was stupid and not worth it and I am an idiot.
Now, I just got a ticket for doing 68 in a 55 zone. In my defense, it was in a desert area, no houses or cities around. Not like I was being a wreck less idiot in a busy area. However with my luck I passed by a CHP officer and if you're from California they are known for being very strict. Also with my luck, he was in a bad mood I guess. He also wrote me up because I forgot my driver license at home, again my fault I forgot to put it back in my wallet after making a copy of it for a job application. This one was a fix it ticket though. (Again, strict aholes.) and they'll drop it as soon as I swing by their office and show them the license.
Now, my question being.. how will this affect me for getting hired with a trucking company? I don't have court until August, and I already have job offers with a few companies including a local one here in the high desert. Will this be on my record right away if they pull up my MVR? Should I stay quiet about it until after court?
Thanks.

Xray, you effed up big time. We have all been tempted by the open desert roads and letting it roll, but you crossed the line. The CHP loves drivers like you because it's easy money. It is not the end of your career, but it #### sure will effect the amount of money you can make. Why? Why did you not have your license on you ...Why are you busting the speed limit to hell? Why are you driving like an idiot? You are obviously new and need to learn to protect your licence like it's a piece of gold....or get out of the business. Don't try to be a super trucker right out of the gate unless you have big deep pockets to pay the fines. Good Luck Driver.

Call Roadlaw that is the lawyers OOIDA use when their members get a ticket, 888-276-8000 is the main num. They will give you a local lawyer to go to court with you and try to reduce your speeding tic. the other can be a bad one if they dont wipe it away when you bring your CDL in, wait till you talk to lawyer before you go near the bear den?
Flat Earth Trucker, brian991219, Chinatown and 1 other person Thank this. -
Alright, settle down, it's not like you killed 4 people in a fiery crash ( too soon?) I think you'll be ok, just the next time, any infraction, could be the end,,,for a while. As punishment, you may have to drive a truck with a 238 Detroit,,

You can drive CA all day long at 4.9mph over the posted limit with no problems. FedEx runs 62 mph in posted truck 55 pmh zones. The signs don't say 55 unless you're bored.

Some companies actually require you to have a speeding ticket to show you are willing to get it delivered no matter what on Elogs.

13 over the limit isn't that bad. You'll be ok.
Leaving your license at home isn't a moving violation, so that's to your advantage.
Still, call Roadlaw that's recommended in Post #3xRaymond and Flat Earth Trucker Thank this. -
D.Tibbitt Thanks this.
