I personally think that it is a good idea. There are numerous brokers who I won't even look at what they have to offer anymore because of past problems. Everyone is new once. If other new and the - not so bright drivers were forewarned , maybe they wouldn't get screwed over in the first place either.

 

The concept of a free market is lost to some, they will never comprehend it. The idea that a transporter moves a car using newer, more expensive equipment at a higher cost therefore the transporter is 'worth' more is just irrational and ridiculous. To the customer that transporter is worth LESS because he moves the car at higher cost. The free market drives innovation, motivation and self-determination not to mention price-fixing is illegal.

All the nay sayers just want to cry the blues but when it comes time to man up they won’t get off off there ### and at least try.

 

I would not waste time and money if i was you even though i feel your pain . Different people , regions , routes etc .. there are always people that go in and someone getting out . People hear stories about car haulers being paid so well and they are ready to dive in not knowing all the details , once they are in and spent some money already - there is no way back , most of them will be fighting till the end and barely making any money , blowing just about anything they see on the load board to make ends meet , feed the families , pay the bills etc . I guess i wasn't smart enough to succeed in car hauling ( to each their own definition of success ) , i didnt have any contracts or constant customers during 6 years doing car hauling starting from pick up and 4 car hauler and ended with 3 high rail stingers ( they were not new but all paid off ) , just last year i decided to switch to flat/step deck due to some reasons . Same situation in dry vans , reefers , flats etc and dont see it getting any better any time soon . If i was you i would try to change route , type of work , scheduling , talk to more successful guys in this industry for better , look for other options , dont accumulate negative energy and stress inside - it will hurt and eat you eventually . For example i started chicago-LA -chicago mostly POV , six month later i switched to chicago-nj/ny- chicago salvage to the east , dealer cars back , last 2 years i had one customer giving me tonn of that salvage for 1 drop off and multiple stop for pick ups/drops back , some guys do just new cars and back haul empty . The 2 different trade organizations for car haulers specifically are The Independent Auto Transporters Alliance. Web site is IATA DOT BIZ. And the other is the auto haulers association of America. As far as the websites I know of is AUTOTRANSPORTEVERYTHING DOT COM

 

Boilerplate response,Wow! Of course this is one reason CSA 2010 was created...to get junk -unmaintained equipment OFF the roads so we all can be SAFER. I always want the most efficient newest equipment available to have less maintenance expense and keep quality drivers. So if someone isn't willing to pay for my services there are plenty more who value their freight not being hung up in a tree instead of their lot that will pay a premium for it.

 

I agree there was a time when the rate was not listed on central dispatch just the load and contact info. With prices posted they collude to keep downward pressue on rates. Yes Collude.
Central dispatch main goal is pushing auction sales to the largest market.
The point missed is brokers are not offereing low rates they just somehow feel they are entitled to 40% for booking the load.
