Thanks.
The truck was set stock by Cat after the rebuild. I turned the screws out 1 turn before installing the engine (much easier when the engine is sitting on the shop floor), no seal on the peanut cap!
The new turbo is a bit laggier than the 177148, but quicker than stock. With one turn out on the screws I will get around 26 lbs. of boost with the new one, but it doesn't limit the boost like a wastegate, and I think with more fuel is will provide more boost. Currently I can't get the pyrometer above 700*, and this is a huge difference compared to either the stock mill or the 177148. Also, this was running at between 4500 ft. elevation and 8000, and grossing 146k with our 345 on it. Our other truck will get up to 1000* if you keep your foot in it with the 177148.
We ran the two trucks together empty to go get equipment last week. The white one pulls quite a bit better than the blue one, but the blue one was 7000 lbs. heavier. Not enough weight to make as big of difference as there was in power. When I bought the white one someone had removed the screws altogether. I put them back in and adjusted back to where the exhaust temperature was controllable, but I really have no idea where it is set relative to stock.
If you change nozzles are there pump adjustments that need to be made as well?PoleCrusher, 7-UP, Westbound23 and 19 others Thank this. -
No sir, 3 to no more than 6 rounds out on the screws, set the time stock with start of advance at 1260 with OR 8785 nozzles

Not exactly sure how you’re supposed to come away with a police report. I thought they typed them up back at HQ. In PA, I’ve had to contact the police department to get them.PoleCrusher, Westbound23, Tug Toy and 16 others Thank this.
