Dow can be a pain in the butt, but, (no pun intended) if that is your biggest customer, I’m sure sitting at home for days on end can b frustrating!!

You won't sit or go home at Highway Transport. They have plenty of work.

@Coolbreeze Thanks for the post. Could you or anyone else with info tell me the differences between system and regional driving at Highway Transport, including pay?

System drivers bounce between service centers and stay out a minimum of 12 days where as regional drivers do out and backs and might spend 1-3 nights in the truck, I run regional out of Pittsburgh which has a guaranteed minimum pay but you can make more depending on how many trips you do a week I try to push for 3 trips a week, you’ll make more running the system as opposed to regional in my opinion and from talking to some of the system drivers.

You with Highway now? Thought you had a sweet private carrier deal.

Yes at Highway now. Private carrier was alright but I got tired of only having one day off a week then having to turn around and drive 70 miles one way to go back to work. Leaving out every Sunday got old quick too. I was in and out of Atlanta 4-5 times a week always at rush hour it seemed. Got tired of fighting Atl traffic all the time. If I lived closer to Conley it wouldn't be a bad deal.

Highway lets me keep my tractor in Winder at the tank wash there. And when I go home for time off I take 3-4 days. They don't nag you here. Paychecks are good. Overall not a bad company. They have treated me well so far.

@meechyaboy I applied two weeks ago and talked to a recruiter. I have 6 months OTR experience but they require at least a year. The safety department will review your application if you only have 6 months of experience if it's with a tanker. Also, a truck driving school certificate will count towards one month of the one year requirement.
