I forgot about the EGR cooler.

Grass isn't always greener going red lol
After having the X-15 , I'll take a 2016+ D13 any day. I think the 455/1750 pulls as strong or stronger than the 565/2050 X15 i had.
Power and "fuel mileage" were a joke imo..... But I would try the X15E , it's rated to pull lower rpm.
The "performance" series i had was dead at the advertised Tq rating.. i think Cummins publishes fake #s.
BTW I'm at 453,000mi on this 2016 and no major issues to date. None.
Most reliable truck I've ever owned.... Just as a contrast to your VoMack 13L experience to think about.... Seems that every generation they have improvement, 2014 then 2017CRNewto Trucking Thanks this. -
I had an '06 ISX and that thing was a boat anchor, mind you I was CAT for 30+ years so I'm a bit bias. But this D-13 is sumthin else, every time you turn around the check ur wallet light seems to be on.

Lol it smells money. Volvo painted it green to remind you what you gotta give away to keep the turd running. Lol.

My D13 has 725k miles now. It is a turd. Used to pull hard. Used to get ok fuel economy. Now it is a fuel munching turd. That has a long laundry list of parts being chucked at it. "Eat another wad of cash you turd!"

All the D13 with iShift and rears above a 3.08+ start life at a disadvantage killing fuel economy anyhow
All Engine MFG now... no matter the color , past 500k.... Better have that wallet out and put your junk on the table, have the meat clever at the ready to hit it with.... over... And over... And over..... Lol
That's why the big fleets don't keep used trucks they're too expensive.
I'd dump it if the average maintenance costs across 6 months are higher than around $1500-2k/mo.... Replacement time or it'll keep eating up profitsNewto Trucking Thanks this. -
Wouldn't it be cheaper to swing another motor in than buying a new truck for $149k?
