    Don’t worry about it.

First off self driving cars aren’t even a wide spread thing.

IF we get to the point where self driving trucks TOOKRJERBS!!!! Just get into construction. They aren’t gonna be driving off road anytime soon...

With all the accidents that Tesla is having with their cars on auto drive, you very little to worry about. In ten years who knows. Yet a driver will still be required. At the rate they are ttrying to get this done, you will still have a job on the truck. If anything it will be the silent team driver. Yet auto drive still needs the human component. After all, paper work MUST get done. Society relies on paperwork. A auto truck has no way to get that done.

Self driving is 30 years away in the least. I wouldn't be too concerned. Other jobs will be replaced by automation first.

Have same thought , I started trucking back in 2015, now I see that autonomous trucks already on a road. So as soon as some giant like Amazon will put tons of cash in front of a white house, trust me you will be kicked out ASAP , so I would suggest trying to find job what stupid robot never will be able to do, become electrician, plumbing, or mechanic to fix that stupid robot :)

Save your money. Whether the robots are better or not wont stop the likes of Musk and Bezos from pushing it forward. Remember, they hate us.

I wouldn't worry about it. First off no company with any sense are going to have OTR with no driver. Driving a truck is limited to a driver. However, I do not agree with truck driving is a secure job. There's no other job that I know off where a small infraction can fire you for life. There's no other job that you have to be perfect at home and one the road.

that would be a huge undertaking, re-training a few MILLION people over say if a factory closed and it only had (say about) 100 people....

Don't worry, the earth will be under water in 12 years. A congressman said so.

There are more people living near bankruspty due to their trying to stay in college until they found a career than truck drivers put out of work by robots in the next 10 years. The number of shippng clerks with $50-100k in student loans and no degree I've met is kind of sad. My college degrees did almost nothing for me. I would have been better off to start trucking as soon as I turned 21 instead of going to college.

Don't confuse what "reporters" on TV or the internet say with what is going to happen. They are just staying busy keeping their boss happy like the rest of us.

I agree totally. And will add that these companies adopting all of this automation are being incredibly short sighted. When tech makes a significant percentage of the worlds population unemployed and unemployable, who will buy their products. They wont make more money anyway because taxes will be dramatically increased so govt can feed those masses. All this blind rush to a technological future is going to have vast unintended consequences if adoption of them ever becomes pervasive.
