That doesn't mean anything. My truck had an overheating problem and I babied it for 5 years before I found the cause. I downshifted on grades and ran the fan alot. Voila no overheating.

Hmm, ok, that code is for the intake manifold pressure data incorrect.
There are actually two fault codes for over temp. The first is at 225 degrees, code 2963 for moderate and then it will log a critical code at 241 degrees, code 151. So not sure how they are determining it is overheating.spsauerland Thanks this. -
Dont know about boost because we dont have a boost gauge. The boost pressure sensor was bad and it was replaced. Trying to see if I can find out anything on egt now. -
There are a few things I would do before I let anyone take my cylinder head off.
1. Verify gauge
2. Remove muffler and install straight pipe
3. Run ~20 ft or rubber hose from the rad cap overflow to a clear plastic bottle filled with water and see if you have any bubbles when it's over heating

Thisnis the reason for this forum, I'm scared to let someone go.into the head bc once they enter they are committed and now the head fefinatley has to be redone for sure and I'm trying to avoid that as much as possible.062 Thanks this. -

Here is another concern husband brought up to me. Why poor fuel milage too? Bobtailing, 12 or 13 mpg. Hook up to trailer and it drops to 3 mpg

Sorry....FWIW = for what it’s worth.
My problems were high Exhaust Gas Temperatures on the pyrometer gauge and high coolant temps when climbing hills loaded. I was able to manage it by dropping a gear or two and turning the engine fan on.Last edited: May 23, 2019
