My late wife was a stickler for life insurance...
Unfortunately, she died in 99 but we had purchased large policies early in life while it was cheap and it really helped.
I still carry those policies today to help my current wife with my passing when the day comes.
I just paid my dad's expenses and the cremation was $2100

We paid 3000 flat for crematory times two bodies. Transport after same is free anywhere in the world. (US Mail registered International or US Domestic priority., boxes stamped human remains) There is no burial, just a disposal into a potters field. (old term for scattering)

The main thing is making sure that your paperwork and plan paid with copied check and so on is with the rest of your living will, POA, executor and last will. That way if something goes bad and you are killed on the road, it only takes a few phone calls to dispatch the body and the family told to get in touch with so and so (Executor) and let the estate roll through probate. Maybe up to a year before it's completed. Check with the IRS after death to make sure either the death tax is paid or not needed, and the inheritance is small enough to your heirs that they don't pay taxes.

To the OP, you are unemployed. Get the truck to the yard, go through the permit book in the truck and see if you find a lein holder get in touch with them about where your truck is.

I have never had a company fail with me on the road. What I have had however is leaving the sinking ship a few times to see it actually bankrupt and closed down. or show up for trucking and find the note on door saying we are out of business.

Make sure you update your employment record that the company is out of business. There is nothing, no one or anything to call, mail or click on to double check that from the closed outfit.

Does anyone know if trucking companies hire cancer survivors? I was just told my cancer is in remission and that the latest scans didnt show any cancer. I have been out of work now going on 2 years but very much want to go back to driving. Was an otr driver for 28 years.

    NavigatorWife and rachi Thank this.

I`m in remission too & i was wanting to go drive for Wal-Mart , so i called their HR department & told her about my Cancer & she told me that it would be no problem getting hired on due to any pre-existing health issues
I have been through the Chemo & Radiation treatments also. My current company has been great to me though during my sickness & i kinda hate to leave. But the pay raise would be 30k more a year. I have critical illness,Hospital Indemnity, short term & long term with our company insurance.

I had cancer years ago. Don't plan on mentioning it. It doesn't matter.

Honestly think of it like shoulder surgery. It's done and over with.

Thats kinda true but with the possibility of it always returning, i didnt know if companies thought of it as a risk or if the insurance companies they have will even insure me.
