Spend any time in trucking and you will go through two phases. First, you will become so poor that you won't be able to afford a shower. Second, you will become homeless, just like the guys you described. Thinking 'fate' has been speaking to you.

  3. WTF are you talking about??
in the 30 years I've been out here you buy 50 gallons of fuel you get a shower? good God man!!
it's always been that way by 50 gallons of or get a shower at most every place..unless you only fuel at dumps and hell holes where ya wouldn't even put your dog into the shower..
I don't buy that excuse whatsoever SMH.
and if after 2 days I'd go get some chef boyardee and eat that and pay for a shower. I grew up with proper hygiene 30 years I've been out here I always take pride in my appearance.
I didn't grow up in some...Ah fugettaboutit.. I'm not even going to go there

    Trucker Kev,
I'm with you. No matter if I had shower credits or not I showered and changed my clothes everyday and sat down to dinner in a restaurant and not fast food. I can't believe some of the so-called drivers today in dirty jeans or shorts, tattered t-shirts above their bellies, sandles and dirty hair and needing a shave last week.

That area has alot of open fields. The downtrodden are just about everywhere. I was up the road from the J at the Hesperia pilot one day. I took a walk. Walking along a worn path in an adjacent field I passed a tarp, one of those fiberglass like cloths. A person was wrapped up in it shivering. I returned to my truck and got an old blanket, some old clothes, and a few canned foods. I went back to the hapless soul and lay the stuff next to him.

    You have to walk there.
    The key word is WALK!
