This question was asked here (in the "New Trucker" forum) some time ago but got hijacked by someone concerned about scheduling. Nothing wrong with that, but the question was not answered to my satisfaction. I now find myself asking the same question.

On the qualcomm, there is a note on the status page for "Hrs to be gained" & "Hrs to be gained in 2 days". I have been running for 11 days now and seem to always have enough hours in the morning to run for another 9-10 hrs. Where do these hours come from? It seems to be in violation and I was never able to do this when I used BigRoad ELD with my last company. I'm not complaining mind you, I rest well at night and feel in my comfort zone.

You can work 70 hours in an 8 day period. On day 9 the day 1 is no longer part of that 8 day period and whatever hours you used that day become available. On day 10 the hours from day 2 become available and so on.

If you work 8.75 hours every day you will never accumulate more than 70 hours in any 8 day period.

"Hours to be gained" is the hours you're going to get back at midnight of the day your on.

If it said HTBG today 8Hours 28Minutes 32 Seconds; at midnight you'd have that many more hours available to work that day, providing you're not over your 11 or 14.

Today is Friday. So that would be your on duty hours from last Thursday. They are no longer part of your 70 in 8 days.

"Hours to be gained in 2 days" is the same except those are the hours you will get back at midnight Saturday night. And it just keeps going until you do a 34 hour reset.

It's extremely useful for planning yourself, and knowing if you can or cannot make a run.

Hot dang, that makes a lot of sense. So I can keep running like this and not have to shutdown for 2 days to do a reset. Thanks for the explanation friends

    Here's mine. Today's Saturday the 25th.

So at midnight Sunday, I'll get 8 hours 54 minutes back for Monday the 27th.

And here's today. So easy, even I can do it. See how I'll get the hours back at midnight.

It's normal if you are running 8 or so hours a day, if you are doing 10+ hours a day then something is wrong.

Drive time can be edited by someone that has the right "privileges"...

also, if you look back at your last 7 days, it will tell you how much you pick up 2 or 3 days out.

I have a question on this.....I just started using a QC Omnitracs and am on a 34 hr reset period at this time. I’m seeing “hrs to be gained: 5hrs 01min”......does this mean my 34 will be shortened by 5 hrs and 01 minute? Hope so.....that would be most helpful.

No that means just what the other guys where talking about. You will gain 5hrs at midnight if you went to work right now and used what hrs you have left on your clock for today. BUT if you start before your 34 is up you just wasted all the hours you had been waiting for your 34 to be up and you will ether have to take another 34hrs off to get your 70 back or run on recap.
