Swift Refrigerated, a new journey

Deliver in the AM in Houston. Tiny place that shouldn't have trucks, why do I always tend to get receivers like that? I will never know haha. Hope to stay going east. Love the west 11 but it's always nice to be in places out of my comfort zone.

 

Well ran a short load up to Edmond, OK added another 500 miles to that check. Load was a drop n hook. Most people would be glad for that, but I hate them because it usually means I will have to pick up someone's problem trailer and fix it. This trailer had no fuel. Fun, so this meant after fueling it, I spend the next 30 minutes priming the #### thing to get it running. Finally gets running so to head to my pick up in Liberal, KS.

Get to Liberal drop my empty and go to look es to get a break in so I will have a full clock to head to Chicago. The time for my load to be ready is 20:53, it gets to that time and I still haven't been called. So I call to be told it won't be ready till Friday 17:00. First #### over and big wait in reefer. Had a feeling this would happen. Had the same thing happen in dry van at a paper place in Georgia.

Well at least I'll get a reset in, got to stay positive, or try at least. I love driving and life on the road. It's the shippers and receiver that spoil a lot of it.

 

They are already working on it. Hopefully I'll get something else. One nice part of working for a big company.

 

Well load is ready, picking it up as soon as I get a 34 in. Sat this long so might as well not waste a reset. I'm guessing whoever made the plan made a mistake when entering it. It said it should be ready last night, when it was scheduled for tomorrow night. Just lucked out that it was ready "early". Got a delivery on Saturday now instead. It's in West Englewood so making sure I don't show up to early. That is a rough part of town.

 

I have no idea. They give me freight and I drive. Not worried about how many trailers they have, etc. Honestly I hate drop and hooks because the trailer I pick up always ends up being messed up. I won't encourage or discourage people from coming to Swift, they done me well, but I don't know how your experience will be.

 

This is the truth right here. My current dm is taking care of me and makes sure I am running. He has been out for a few days, not sure why, but still I am running ok. Way better than I did over in Albuquerque with dry van. Of course you have to "prove" yourself, but if you do that and still not get freight it gets quite annoying. I am enjoying my experience right now and will continue to document. Personally if this works good I hope to stay at Swift. Easier to do that than change companies, but we will see.
