I’m a Day early on delivery.

Yesterday....
Dispatch: “of course they’ll be there so you can deliver. They’re always there. So hurry up and we’ll get you a backhaul!!”

Me: “ok. Can I have the phone number?”

Dispatch: “no. They don’t want us to give it out.”

Me: “ummmm, ok”

... to myself... “how dumb are you Otter?”


Today...

Me: “hey dispatch I made great time and I’m here. No one else is. They’re closed.”

Dispatch: “of course they’re closed it’s Memorial Day.”

Me: “yesterday when I was sitting on my couch at home. All comfy I was told to haul butt and get here and deliver. That’s exactly what I did. So are you telling me I’m sitting in a parking lot in Kent, Wa instead of getting some extra time with my family because someone didn’t check when I asked.” “And now I’m out of hours and so is my trainee and we’re stuck here?”

.....SILENCE.....

Dispatch: “good job. Make sure you get BOL signed on all pages. Bye.”

....to myself.... “you’re about as dumb as a bag hammers aren’t you Otter.”

Uber

 

Got to Cabelas. If company don’t like my running over on PC time. They can quit having me masturbate.
Club Points got me a pair of wading boots. Rubber sole with studs. Not counting on much in gripping. Have some places I want to fish. They have invasive species of snail. Have to have these boots. Don’t want to get stuck last minute with a spendy pair. Have a pair of felt sole. Best for gripping.

 

I too remember it as well as the funeral for Dwinght Eisenhower.
Grin as a kid, trying to watch TV. Didnt understand it at the time. Yet I can remember wanting to watch a TV show and in NJ all the big broadcasters were showing the exact same funeral procession. Thinking as a kid, how boring ti was. A black and white TV with people wearing black standing along the rosd. Watching a black horse drawn wagon with black horses. Comentators talking about how special it was that everything was black (other than the white shirts).

Seems funny to me now. Not as funny as tucker finally getting rain and he now has a mud slide for a front yard.

 

I understood perfectly. I did wonder what was so special about this man. Why was everyone crying for him? When they didn’t cry for the man down the street who died?
I was very aware of everything. The 60’s blew me away. This was life?
You all should know. I won’t get into the whole story of how. That same year. I had a Professor at Syracuse University tell my parents: I warn you. He won’t fit in. He’ll be either extremely successful. Or a nothing. There’s no in between for him. He’s too smart.

 

The funeral for JFK. Almost an all day event.
Was on every channel. Then we had Bobby.
Same year as Martin Luther King Jr.
Having dinner listening to uncle Walter give the body counts.
Glued to the TV watching the lunar landing.
