I guess the only funeral I watched was Princess Di's. I remember it came on late at night.

The lunar landing. I remember having to get up in the middle of the night to watch it. We were flooded with all that nasa stuff. Grew up next to nasa in Houston. Father worked there. If you look at the movie: Futureworld. It was filmed at nasa. Those chambers are real. They’re used to simulate space for testing.
Apollo 13 getting hit by a rock. Everyone was up in the middle of the night. Every father who had the slightest resemblance of support, had to go into work.

My parents worked on a lot of NASA projects.
Some equipment was for flight, some is still on the moon and sending back data.

My dad worked with and at NASA/JPL and other defense contractors. The last project he worked on before he passed was Hubble. Those transponders were his job to oversee. Still going strong. Nice job Dad.

Yup, step father worked there at JPL. It was kind of cool. Seems the senior workers two years before their retirement were playing bridge in the afternoons. Bob was a metalurgist (the man to see to know what metals could be used in temperatures of conditions). Got to see his office. He had a titanium rocket leaning against a wall and some other curiousities.
