Hi,
Last night my tripac decided to give me trouble. I have been running my unit for a very long time due to the heat here in Mississippi. The fan packed up causing the unit to turn off.
This morning I have experimented with it.
The APU runs fine. This was proven by only turning on the unit with no AC and allowing it to charge the batteries. No problem.
The AC is running fine. It cools nicely and turns on and off with the thermostat.
The fan sees to be the problem.
It stutters a little after being on for a while and then eventually turns off the APU.
So I ran it with fan only. It ran for a while and then shut down giving the following display:-
Anyone know exactly what is going on? I think the blower fan into the sleeper is a goner but if anyone knows for sure I would appreciate some feedback.

You've probably got a flakey connection at the 50 amp Maxi-fuse which is located by the starter. Bat code sets when the control unit sees low voltage. I recommend chopping that fuse out of the harness—cut the wire off at the fuse and pull it back through the harness (slit the fabric covering in a few spots so you can access the wire to pull it) until you have enough to reach directly to the batteries. Go to NAPA and get a 50 amp fuse and fuse holder and attach that wire directly to the batteries.
izifaddag Thanks this. -
And your blower fan may not be bad, it just isn't getting enough voltage to run. Are you having any trouble starting the truck?

First the MIL, then the check engine, now the red stop engine light. I had FL in Tupelo check it out on the 1st April. The usual - EGR problems. "We don't know what that is give us a signed blank check and we'll let you know when it hits $20,000.
I declined.
Shut down my authority applied for SS and retired - sort of.
I was living in the truck relying on the APU.
Then this out of the blue. It was running ok then the fan started giving me trouble.
I would have never guessed that was a 't' unless you said. Thank you.
With the EGR problem I am reluctant to spend another cent on it.. -
If you're just using it as living quarters, take the battery cables from your APU and hook them to one battery—the best one in the set—disconnect all the rest. Then run a piece of 10 gauge wire from terminal 2 in the control unit to the positive post of that battery. Make sure you put a 50 amp fuse inline.
This is assuming the APU alternator is still good, which I suspect it is.
What are you using for 110v? Is it parked somewhere you can plug it in? -
Did you try and feel up the blower motor to see if it's getting hot(er) than normal? If your condenser fan is running it's probably not in your wiring; except possibly to the blower fan.
Good luck! -
These dealerships will do all sorts of 'diagnostic' voodoo to your truck for weeks, or just clear the code/light and give it back to you, there is ZERO incentive for them to actually fix trucks you bring to them, they don't gaf at all.
They don't even know how the equipment works, and they don't need to, they just eat money and tell you various explanations, based on how stupid they think you look. I've started going in and saying flat out, "NO diagnostic, I'm paying you to remove and replace X and all its related components. If I leave and it doesn't work, or something else catches on fire because you idiots didn't plug something back in right, I'm coming right back here for it to be fixed again, on your clock and on your dime."izifaddag Thanks this. -
Thanks guys. Sold the whole kit and kaboodle for pennies on the dollar and consider myself lucky. Fuel going up, rates going down, regulations through the roof, cost of repairs on the level of banditry. Brokers want to pay stupid money and YOU are responsible for that load 24/7 and make sure you do 2000 miles and arrive at Walmart within 15 minutes or else.
I have had it !! I did 1 year had a break then another 11. I did my bit. So I quit.
I am off to see the Grand Canyon not just drive by it.
Best wishes fellow drivers. .frito bandito and lilillill Thank this. -
