i was wondering if anyone has any knowledge on being in a walk away lease and possibly keeping the truck and taking it under a new companies authority.... I was told by western express that there is a way to keep the truck and go under someone else’s authority as long as I can guarantee payment. I’m not sure if it’s true and if so how can it be done? Thanks in advance

It states in the WFX lease that after one year at WFX you can pay a deposit of $5000 and take the truck to another company. As to how the payments would be setup I do not know.

I vaguely remember a while back when "getting on the Schneider load board was all the rage" that it was explained if you bought your truck through Schneider Finance, were current on your payments, had various funds in escrow and wanted to move to another trucking company that Schneider Finance approved it was POSSIBLE. I seem to remember your bank account had to be set up so your funds were available to the finance company so they could guarantee access to your fnds for truck payment.

I know Scheinder, TEL (JB Hunt), and a couple others do, but it’s not cheap. All current accounts have to be positive, $5-$10k security deposit, ACH checking account withdrawal set up, and between $400 and $1200 for paperwork processing depending on carriers credit worthiness to the primary leasing company (making sure that you get paid!)... so while absolutely possible... better off just taking that $5k and going to HMC Kenworth and getting a used truck with payments of $350 a week ($1300 monthly) vs $750-$1k after maintaince accounts through leasing companies.
