These pl5000 ant.'s are supposed to be some of the best mobile ant.'s available. but I want to know if any of you have used them before I plunk down a $100 on one. Right now I am running
A Wilson 2000. It sits at 1.1-1 on the vswr's

I ran a Wilson 1000 & 5000 for the last 17 years. Both good antennas. But I tuned my Sirio 5000PL with the Sirio 145 PL mag mount to 1:7 on 26.950 to 1:8 on 28.740. on my 2008 Chrysler T&C mini van. Which I feel is very good. And it's next to the rack cross bar. I had to remove about 1 1/4" off the stinger. This is truly a super talking antenna. Giving me about 5 more miles over the Wilsons. And just for the freebanders. My SWR is 1:1 on 27.555 as seeing on my MFJ-259. I love the fact that this one antenna can do both 10 & 11 meters. I think it is the best mobile antenna for anyone who runs both 10 & 11 meters. And to me it was worth the price.

    Turbo-T Thanks this.

I forgot to say this is a very tall antenna about 78". And they do whack everything. So it may not be good for all Big Truck installs. But it is a talker from my mobiles.

    Turbo-T and JCordle Thank this.

Well at 78" I don't think I would want to use it on the diesel car. Thanks for the come back!

Shoot, 78" tall.....that's nothing. i've ran 102 whips and pruned trees, lets just say the antenna clearly won. Like they say in training Day "Are you a wolf or are you a sheep?" "Whaaaa this whip makes my truck look like an RC car...."

Is this how tall the Sirios really are? Or just yours?

I've heard the Sirio has an edge over the Wilsons....

I've been told the sirios are better than the Wilson's
But have no idea. Right now I have a 2k Wilson
Tuned to 1.1-1 vswr's. not sure how much better it can get?

I own many antennas and radios. I also own the Wilson 2000 mirror mount. I like the Workman SP-3000 better. It's not just the SWR but distance. My Sirio is talking much further than my Wilsons. I see as much as 5 miles more when switching out antennas while parked. And yes Turbo the 102" are great. I still have 3 of them. But again I prefer the Sirio 5000. And I can work both 10 & 11 meters without a tuner. A 1:7 on channel 1 and 1:7 on 28.700 both is not bad for me. I sure can't get that range on my 102". These are very broad banded. The best mobile that I've ever seen. And all of the 5000's are this tall. I have a few friends across the country running them. And I was the last to get one after seeing it in CB Magazine. I just wish that I got one earlier. Turbo with you also being a Ham you will LOVE it on 10 too!

Something's wrong. A 102 should also be broad banded. Of course I have a 108 with no spring, and it'll tune in both 10 and 11 meters no problem. best antenna for an export IMO. However I have heard those Sisiors also kick ###. I think that'll be my next antenna purchase once I sell off both my Wilson's. #### I just ordered up a larsen NMO-30 with a 64" whip....

And with the auto tuner( AH-4 ) a 102" can go 40 meters to 6 meters not bad on one whip.
