I had a DOT inspection in Pennsylvania where I was driving a straight truck. My brakes was out of service. Turns out the inspector measured me for short posts instead of long ones on my truck. Kept me there for an hour and a half....and furthermore... Wrote me up for texting and driving. I had proof I wasn't....my boss called him and he did admit he made a "mistake". Mistake my ###.

Easy to say when you have no clue what you are talking about. and that is coming from someone who has got a sticker every time I have ever had a full blown inspection, even in Cali.
I made a living working on rigs at the scales for years.
I have welded runs in the paint on a brand new trailer, even after proving to the officer it was a run instead of a crack.
I have thrown a perfectly good spring on the dot's desk, and demanded they show me the break in it.
I have insisted the dot officer to show me an oil leak, when there was not one and never was even an old film of oil anywhere, only to get her to admit that there was none, but she inspected it and was going to write something up.
I have crawled under a trailer to adjust the brakes and ask the driver if he would like me to bolt his axle back on while we had it down? yep ubolts hanging down almost to the ground, painfully obvious, but the dot only noticed a brake out of adjustment.
I could go on for ours, but you should at least get the drift.
The first two years of the 72 hour blitzes, they took a lot of junk off the road, some of it was major carriers, then it dwindled to mainly a money deal. -
Well here if we have a sticker, they do not inspect us again for 90 days, unless we pull in with something obviously wrong.
Even without a sticker, they check the computer every time we cross the scales and look to see when our last inspection was, and have a certain amount of time before they do another one. -
Does anyone besides me have a problem with inspections done on shoulder of highway ?
Lepton1, Truckermania and tinytim Thank this. -
Only that they freak me the #### out, they’re dangerous and a complete hazard and should be illegal. Nope. No problem.Rubber duck kw and stuckinthemud Thank this.

Definitely dangerous and hazardous

Why don't we all just stay home for those 3 days? That will show them we won't be pushed around. They can sit in their inspection stations and twiddle their thumbs.

Inspect me all you want. Truck is brand new. Can’t tell you if that liquid on the tank is corrosives or water, but you’re more than welcome to touch it and find out
-
Can you explain how the dot measured the amount of travel wrong ?
As far as I know there is only one measurement and one way to measure it. short long or in between.
