I agree with most on this thread. 13 years of driving for me and I've never been hassled during these "Blitz" weeks. Business as usual for me, I'll be out here working.

During last years "blitz" I was pulled over on the interstate. Trooper took my license and paperwork and told me to follow him to an event arena parking lot where they had multiple inspection stations set up. Did a full level 1 inspection that took over an hour. "No violations discovered." So to answer your question, it varies. Some do it right on the side of the highway, some at the scales, and some in other areas. Just make sure you're prepared.

I remember one year being in Houston during this June 72 hour. The Texas DOT was all over the 610 loop and Beltway 8 busting truckers. They were on the southeast section of Beltway 8 hitting it really hard the day I went through there. My last ten years driving I just either took hometime during those days or asked for "vacation in place or to do a 34". I'm not married and would find a hotel that would allow me to park my truck. I would go rent a car and enjoy some peace and quiet. Have a few drinks and if I was really lucky to catch a TV marathon of some kind!

One in PA TPike stepped out into front of me downgrade past Midway House. Stupid trooper. I had to make the stop in a unwelcome situation on that downgrade.
Perfect inspection. Now getting off that shoulder against a upgrade. Love it.
