Schneider has no dress code, other than clean appearance, of course.

They have shirts that say Schneider on them in all forms, T-shirts, dress, sweats, pullovers, jackets, etc...

They have almost anything you need with their logo on it lol, but none of it is required unless you're a driving Instructor at a school, or work in the office. There may be some dedicated accounts that require it, but I wear what I want. As do all the other regular drivers.

Schneider requires long sleeve in the bulk division (at least during training. Not sure after). $55 for 5 shirts that they will deduct out of your first check. That's not bad as long as they are all cotton. I can't wear polyester anything.

Was not aware of this, I am in the Van division, but I do understand why they would require them... Chemicals on the skin = bad lol

Yeah sure is, but they do provide protection equipment. Oh and they also say contacts are a no no in bulk. I only have reading glasses.

    Paperboy:
Having spent 4 years with Jabba the Hunt, I can relate to you hating uniforms. They are based on what someone else (usually someone with lousy taste) believes attractive, they are usually some kind of color or material that shows and retains stains, almost impossible to keep looking good without professional cleaning, and seldom fit right or look good.

The upside is that you don't have to spend a lot of time every day figuring out what to wear. That and its easier to blame someone else when you screw up... it was another guy in a tan shirt and brown pants... bad side to that is that you get blamed for their screw ups...

If your uniform phobia is that strong, look around at the truck stop, see who is wearing uniforms and steer away from those companies...

One other thing that you might want to consider.

Even though I hate uniforms myself, I found that many of the companies that have them are trying to put forth a professional image, and that many of them pay better than the average duck. That is why I started with Hunt. I was making $.29 a mile when most guys around me were making $.22-$.24 a mile.

As for hanging out at the truck stop, that is also good because you can get acquainted with the lifestyle. Don't be afraid to tell other drivers that you are a newbie planning on entering the field. Sure, you will get some jerks, but most of the drivers will be friendly and give you a lot of good advice. Nothing like asking someone who has been there.

    Good luck,
    Mudge
