What is the name of the job that has somebody drive back and forth to construction sites in a dump truck pulling a trailer with construction equipment on it? How much money do they make? I'm talking about f350 dump trucks to f650 dump trucks (non-cdl)... What experience is needed to get a job like this?
Hauling equipment

Usually, that fella has more than one job. Driving to/from the job. And whatever else they need him to do. Most I've known operate the machine they haul.
But some larger construction companies do have guys that just deliver machinery. They're called truck drivers as far as I know.Nothereoften, SL3406, Tb0n3 and 1 other person Thank this. -
I can't think of a combo w/a 1 ton & up pulling an equipment trailer that wouldn't be over 26001 GCWR. So that means class A would be required
Tb0n3 Thanks this. -

Your not getting a mini on a single axle, our 17,5 gvw tilt deck hooked to my 9000 gvw 1990 srw f350 is still considered a class A vehicle

You also mentioned a dump bed. Did the truck's rating change?
Without knowing the actual numbers, all I can say is that maybe your 1 ton will stay under the CDL limit, but an F650 will definitely require a class A.Last edited: Jun 8, 2019

The need for a class A CDL depends on the GVWR of the trailer. Anything over 10,000 lbs GVWR needs a class A. No matter what the GCWR is.
