Good afternoon! I have been filling gaps with the load boards with great results (northeast) but am looking for pointers on keeping some momentum with a small fleet running off the boards. How many days in advance to you try to book? Do you guys start booking for the following week on a Friday, or even earlier? thanks!!

It depends on the market, sometimes it's better to pre book, sometimes it's better to wait till 1-4pm and book a last minute load

    What he said.

Sometimes you can book a few days out, sometimes you can’t. More trucks you book for the more you have to try to book out but sometimes the market dictates you can’t because they aren’t yet paying enough money. Also, sometimes the market says you must pre book because by late in the day all the loads are taken.

That's usually a difficult thing to judge knowing when to pre-book and when not to. Sometimes you miss the mark by not pre-booking. I can say for sure don't ever pre-book the DOT 72 hour blitz week like this past week.

That week always pays very good if you're willing to work it. The weeks prior to big holidays are usually another time you dont really want to pre-book anything.

Of course that is just one way to operate. Some people pre-book everything days and even weeks ahead 365 days a year for more consistency.

I usually book the day before I’m scheduled to unload unless I’m going to a crappy area then I look up until I deliver!! I would think with multiple trucks it would be easier to prebook

    Proxy Thanks this.
