I have a question concerning big cam engines, and will probably have more later.
I have a good running big cam 1, that has no jakes . For my use I will have to have them, will they enterchange off of other engines.
What is the possibility of using a set off of a small cam engine? Long shot I know, but I happen to have one.
I can probably find some for big cam 11 or 111's, infact I actually have a 111, but hate to rob the jakes off of it,

Depends on the jake series they maybe 5-6 different ones. The 400h sticks out in my mind for either small or big cam. Cummins based the models off what turbo you have and cam series I do believe.

A big cam 1 & small cam Jake may interchange. Need to know the engine brake model & the big cam cpl# to start researching. The turbo plays a big part in which jakes will fit. Some older jakes need to be updated with auto lash screws depending on weather it has a divided entry or single entry turbo. Parts, Service & Support | Jacobs Vehicle Systems

You want Jacobs Systems nothing else and see if you can find another junkyard engine same as yours and then try to transfer the guts of the Jacobs from that to yours.

If it does not go well I guess you go up to shop level and that will cost money.

I think it's good to have a jacobs on it It's no excuse not to have one these days.

Need the jakes that will work with your turbo. I’m running model 425A jakes with a HT60 from a 525 N14 Redtop.
Make sure you open the oil feed galley in top of the rocker box “when adding” Jakes. Just a set screw but with Jakes it’s hollow.

    EverLuc and jamespmack Thank this.

Notice I’m holding 2 set screws, one solid and one open through the middle for oil flow to the jakes.

Not sure but @SmokinCAT may have access to a Cummins listing of Jake / Turbo combinations not sure.

Figure out which model you have and go to the jacobs website and it will tell you if the jake is compatible with single or dual entry turbos.

As for the jakes changing over there should be no issues as they use the same rocker box.

    jamespmack Thanks this.

Thanks, that will be easy enough to do.

Are you saying even the small cam jakes may be able to be used, or all the big cam engines could possibly be used.
