Roll a 4X4 under the front twice and strap it down to keep the wind out.

 

Those are great guns, but it’s going to be very heavy if you carry it on you. It would suck to carry if you’re going to do a lot of walking, unless you expect bears. I’d go with a subcompact Taurus G2C with 2 12 round mags for under $200.(I own a .44 Redhawk with a 4.5 inch barrel)

Thanks for replying. We have black bears and mountain lions in our area. I’ll look into you’re suggestions.

 

Fold the tarp 1/4 size and secure according to the closest d rings to the deck. Strap the front of the tarp to the deck.

 

You can see the difference in the Ruger 44 and Taurus, besides the $600+ price compared to the $175-200 range, 6 rounds compared to 13 rounds. 1/2 the weight or less too. (42 ounces for Smith 629, 21 ounces for Taurus G2C)
