About 20 yrs ago, I drove a Mack CH. Had a valve similar to that on the firewall, but ISTR that flapper was more like a rubber cap(?) One day that thing blew out and I lost all my air...Went to Mack and bought 2 of them in case it ever happened again. Seems like mine was smaller than that one though...

I can't tell you how many times I have gone to the scales to replace air lines the dot has shut a truck down for, just to find paint peeling on the air line, sometimes I could scrape it and show the dot they were wrong, but there are others that once they have written it up, the line has to be replaced, they will not admit they are wrong.
I have even driven out there because of a hose clamp where they thought there should be a compression fitting, and have to get it through their head that that hose going to the air compressor is water and it has the right clamp. lol
