Everybody is sitting, and I will be headed for Maine in the morning. Just a short little 750 mile run to deliver early Tuesday. Hopefully I will not get stuck running short hauls around the New England states again like I did 2 weeks ago. That sucked, but I was supprised to see the pay check was still not bad.
Of course, half the pay was from the run up. Even 1 load paying 4.00 a mile in a week helps, when I only get 20% of that. Our owner Ops at my company all have to have there own authority and are not leased. They just haul our freight for 91% of the gross. The owner and his son (the dispatcher) do a decent job of running them almost as much as they run our trucks, and when we are short in our region they will find them longer hauls to pull and keep busy. Since we have freight come to us at times that goes out of our area (going west of the Mississippi) we offer to them first if the rate is acceptable. If they don't take it we broker it out.

I am ok with the little money I am making for now. I just hope that things turn around soon. I have still been taking home 500+ a week, but only running 4 days a week for a while.

With a thread like this I wish central would hire me this alone is like a family. But no they won't hire exp. guys oh well I found a great small company with 20 trks. So tell the guys if they see a Ricks Produce truck# 108 give me a holla.
