Ports and shipping terminals are and should be security zones, just like airports currently are. The fact that our government is attempting to secure them is a positive thing and frankly over-due in my opinion. While getting and obtaining a security clearance is costly and a hassle, it''s important to the security of our nation and I don't see how that violates anyones rights.

"It just doesn't make sense to target port workers for terrorist screening. No worker is going to destroy the source of his or her livelihood"

I fail to see the logic in this statement all-together. Like a terrorist is going to be concerned about a source of income? We should know who is working where and what freight they handled as it enters our county. I would not want undocumented aliens working in a security area at an airport or nuclear power plant or a port.

I found most of the other arguments in this article to be equally base-less. Workers refusing a vehicle inspection into a security zone being arrest by police after being called by security...I'm glad security called the police. I think this article is a bunch of bunk and I'm glad to see the government taking this action.
