1. Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.

I live 20 minutes from I-75, and about and hour from I-10. Averitt website says home weekly, which is 45 miles north in Tifton GA. Averitt does not allow tractors taken home, which is OK by me. Who else claims to have or does have the best home time. If I get 2000 - 2500 miles a week I would be good. Of course I do not start school till Jan 07 with the Tech School, so I gots lots of time.

alot of companies will get you home on w/e 's. problem is the time at home differs alot. I've seen barely 34 hrs to over 48 hrs. Not alot of time figuring you will sleep 20 hours of it. This is just another reason i try to stay away from otr. Local is just where its at.

I have no experience, so I will first have to do OTR, then look else where.

Call Roehl 888-356-1142, and ask for Stacy Holstein, she hired me, and I am home every weekend, and I am otr. The may have some dedicated runs in your area, not sure?

I thought the same thing a few weeks ago after getting my license. Was all set to go to Roehl Trucking. I found a local job that I am home almost every day.. And home every Weekend from Friday Evening till Monday Morning. I get paid hourly for driving. It is with a vinyl window and door company. Apply to all that you find,, Ya never know what might come up. Even if their site, or ad in the paper says it takes experience. More and more companys are making changes because of the driver shortage.
If your really looking for OTR,, I found Roehl, to be pretty honest. Their weekend hometime every weekend, is flatbed I believe and regional, they have 7on, 3off, 7on, 4off, available (Slipseat trucking) Not sure about Averitt as I wasn't going to shave my beard off, and they are strict no facial hair policy.
Just thought I would let ya know,, yes even for us newbies,, there are "some" local companys that will give us a shot..
    good luck
