I didn't say this a few weeks ago. Ill try and be short. Now this operation always seams to get offended about my price. They don't call me all the time. I suspected they call others too. I was actually delivering a machine to a address of theirs I had never been. I pull in find the guy I need and go out to untarp it. Guy shows up on tow motor and when I pull the tarp off in a dramatic way he says "Oh my God You used chains". I had the short moment of "Should I not Have". Turning to give him the WTF look. He laughs and tells me last week a driver used straps, no dunnage. He made it 2 blocks and off it came on a city street. Then proceeds to tell me a few weeks ago it happened on I75 driver lost on thru the driver side of a curtain side trailer and he had to be chased down and pulled over to find out he lost a 35k die. Now is it the drivers fault, Yes but in general does it make them responsible for contracting based on price only. We are looked down on, but really take a hard look at the people doing the looking down. They are no better and to me, it don't matter. Yes I probably charge even more next time knowing this info.

Unfortunately we live in a time on which quantity is preferred over quality by the majority.

Something I struggle with myself. Seems like it always takes me longer to secure my load than just about everyone else. Not only am I careful about making sure nothing's gonna move, but also that I'm not gonna damage the load with my securement. Just the way I'm wired, it's got to be right and I'm not happy until it is.

So far not a whole lot of appreciation, but being a rookie flatbedder can't expect too much.

  5. @PoleCrusher ya may think your a rookie, but your more than that now. I realize you havent hauled everything, I havent either after 20+ yrs. But your on your way to being the professional that customers want to find. Keep up the standards you have set for yourself and dont forget the pics.
    Keep on trucking

Ok i have to go play with the Bay Area idiots, starting to feel like @Ruthless me being on the Left Coast.

It's like @TripleSix said, seems like we're all judged by the least common denominator. Usually the only folks that appreciate the extra time and effort in trying to always do the job right are old school hands.

As @AModelCat brought out, the OP has numerous posts. I try not to comment in those posts.
Not when they choose to stick with their first grade education.

Isn’t there a book about “every thing I ever needed to know I learned in first grade”?
