Hoping someone here can help me out.
Posting here because I had no idea which forum would be best.
My wife has limited use of her left leg and can’t make it all the way up the steps of my truck.
I’ve been trying to find out if there are any products made that will make it easier for her to climb into the passenger side.
I suppose I could go with a small step ladder, but something that could be attached to the truck itself would make us both feel much more secure while she gets in and out.
If anyone knows about items like this, I would appreciate you pointing me in the right direction.

    Nope.

You must get in and out of truck three limbs system. Up you go.

Have her grab passenger cab side bar with left hand. Lean right swing bad leg onto step.

Apply tension on left hand to pull her self over onto the lower step When both feet hit the lower step her right arm should be at the open door reach.

Repeat the problem carefully until she is in. Always three limbs, swing bad one first.

IF the bad one refuses to take weight, then do it on her strong leg.

Remember that strong leg must deteriorate over time. I had a joint replacement in one hip last year and I used my strong leg exclusively for 9 weeks. It started to refuse loading via muscle shaking until medicines calmed it down.

    Good luck.

If you're driving a company truck, you're options are somewhat limited. While there are always things that can be done, if you own the truck the possibilities are endless. Most companies won't allow modifications to their equipment...ESPECIALLY those that would hurt the resale value or limit the pool of potential buyers. If it's yours, though, you can add a few steps to shorten the height of each one, modify the grab rails and add hand holds where they'd be most effective for you...or go all-out and add a lift. Your truck and the only limit is your budget. Company ride and you may have to settle for that step ladder.

I appreciate it. May just have to go the step ladder route or see if I can make a non-destructive modification to the steps.

You said "limited use" so that makes me think she can at least stand for short periods and maybe take some steps. Why not se if it is easier for her to get in and out from the driver's seat? As she climbs in she can put her right leg in and basically pull the left in as long as she can stand long enough to ascend. coming out is pretty much the same in reverse. Left leg out and placed, balance to bring out the right then re position to put her left down and do it again.Could work.
