As much as I dislike the e-log it's the HOS that are the problem. If you can't do the BC -Alberta rounds legally with an e-log then you would also have to "fudge"a paper log to do the rounder. If it takes an extra day to do the trip that sucks but all the creative logging that has been done over the years is why we are now being forced to be honest with electronic logging.

It used to be no HOS at all. That's back when I started. Then it became 18 hours per day. Then it dropped to 14. We have longer HOS than the States because we have many two lane goat trails, red lights on highways, and our major cities are far apart. It's not like you can take your pick of where to go, north, south, east, or west. It's one way, either east or west. We don't have cities and towns all over the place like America does. Also we don't have a proper highway network like an Interstate. The jerk offs sitting behind desks in Ottawa don't have a clue how long it takes to go from A to B, or how many hassles that delay along the way. Two lane highway? Yeah, get stuck behind an RV for miles and miles. You've lost 15 minutes right there. Flag girl ahead? 5 to 30 minutes. Oh, another RV, 15 more. Chip trains that don't know what 90 is. 4 wheeler twits who don't know how to drive in the mountains. But hey, there's a passing lane 30 miles ahead. So, almost always they'll go slow before the hill, so you time it right, lag back, then hammer it and swing past them into the passing lane. You rip past them. Yay!!! then you start grabbing gears and they dawdle past you. And you're stuck for many more miles. Flat lander truck drivers who are nervous nellies that can't find the go pedal in the mountains. Immigrants that can't decide which side of the line they should be on. My favorite, a truck driver doing 75 for miles and miles, and you finally get a chance to use the passing lane and hammer down, and they get past you in the granny lane because they're real light. Grrrr.... Anyhow, that's life running the mountains in BC. And that's when the weather is good and the road is perfect.....
