Dan's Truck Stop & Cafe, Hattiesburg, MS. On 49 South right before the 98 split on the Southside of town. Big parking lot, no gravel, friendly folks.

Apparently someone's decided to do some real cooking here again. I walked in a 10pm, ordered the Pork Chop breakfast. Two pork chops, center cut, on the bone, and fried fresh on the spot. Got two eggs cooked my way, hash browns and a biscuit. Good Chow here again. Out the door.... food, tax, and tip for less than $12. Dig in.

The Hitchin Post at exit 500 in Gainsville, TX. Have been loading oilfield tanks right down the street from them. Old style gravel parking lot and good food. Got lunch special the other day. CFS was real round steak. Red beans, fried yellow squash, and salad. About 6 bucks and very good. Waitress even insisted on giving me a 32oz foam cup of tea to go. Will hit it again tomorrow after loading. Not great, but #### good.

But it's not the T/A or Peelot either.....
I haven't had the pleasure of having a steak in TX...yet...my wife has....unfortunately...when you have a TX steak...CA steaks taste like dog food.....That's all my wife talks about after she gets back from the Real Estate Conferences in TX...that and the way they prepare Green Beans in TX too....

There should be a thread on the best Steaks too....:biggrin_25525::yes2557:
