@stwik the 06-07 14l can be a good engine. However must have a full rework. Im not a fan of the compact geartrain. Some are. However most of them were driven at a lower rpm and de-nutted. Has a issue with cylinder drop and head problems with higher op temps. A full rebuild and cutting counter bores lower op temps and some aftermarket parts with a good program driven at a higher rpm it can be a mean SOB. They was good for 850k taken care of. Just rebuild it as a 2003 and older Dedec4 14.0l. Not hard.
Edit I do not know of 2003 Dedec4's. Just dedec4's pre ordered installed in 2003 trucks. Sorry for miss understanding. -

Heavy aint the word, Next to the axle flanges with the wedges them were my least favorite to tow. First to a hendrickson air steer. -
