USDOT says I can carry express packages on my motorcoach from Reno, but I've never carried freight before and have no clue how it works. Express packages must be 70 lb or less and we could do same-day delivery. A friend of mine said his bus carries "blood and flowers" for same-day delivery all the time, but I'm not sure who to contact or how I'd get paid for doing this. He says he makes an extra $500/day on packages. This would be a regular route, not a charter bus. Could y'all please point me in the right direction?

If you are using your motor coach for hire you would fall under the same guidelines as any other for hire company. You would need DOT numbers, insurance, logbook or ELD requirements anything else that goes along with being an owner operator.

He needs all that for his “human” cargo bub.

Op, yes you can haul freight. You would charge whatever the market allows, and collect either by billing on account or C.O.D. Whatever is your preference.

Blood & flowers both need to be refrigerated, i’m doubtful your cargo hold is refrigerated. I would search for a package courier service near you that you could get hooked up with.

Don't you have to declare on your authority app what you are going to haul?

I can't imagine a guy staying busy , and a motor home seems like the most inefficient way possible to deliver freight of any kind. lol
The way insurance companies have gotten, I bet it would be fun to get all the insurance a guy needed for this too.

    In a motor home?

Wouldn't that make it a freight carrier that needs insurance against loss of packages?

Greyhound hauls many freight packages under the passengers in the side bay for decades, Blood comes to mind.
