What I should've said would be: "As I understand it, SNI lost and covered"...... In any case, SNI is strong, or at least as strong as could be expected in this economy. If they take up a position that allows them to remain strong so I have a job going forward, fine, I have no problem with it. I'm leased to them, and I have seen the rates I get fall just as rates have fallen across the board on everyone else out here. It's just the business cycle. Could I make more with my own authority and customers? Maybe. But, the fact is, I get a value in return for the percentage they take off the top. Could I do the work myself to achieve that value and get paid more? Sure I could, but the extra hassle is not worth the money I'd get, and I'm not sure I'd come out ahead by the time I figured the cost for the earnings vs. the value I get by them doing it. In short, it's a mutally beneficial arrangement. At the end of the day, it's just business.
I know you know this because you've been in this business a long time, but an increase to Gross Revenue does not always mean an increase to Net Profit. The two are very different items on an Income Statement. Eg: The increase to Gross Revenue could have a marginally greater increase to Cost of Services Sold which could lead to a reduction in Net Profit. In Ecomonics, it's known as the Marginal Cost of Production.

There's a another "company" forum. Not Schneider, where the owner/moderator shouted everyone down about their company earnings, Even going as far as to call one poster a complete idiot. Claiming the nay sayer had no understanding of the report. It too reported the same as Schneider...earnings and balance.
2 months later, the company stock tanked...big time.
Companies fudge numbers all the time. And, they pay the price.
However, I do believe Schneider has a better chance at coming out on top after this down turn. Based soley on what they are doing in China & Mexico.
We're all going to be pulling Schneider brokered freight. -
One of the main reasons Schneider will survive is becasue they are privately owned. They don't have to worry about stock holders crying that they didn't see an increase in the stock price. The only thing Schneider has to worry about is keeping their expenses low and being able to make payroll.
