I'm going to start by saying that I'm going to run completely legal going forward.
I'm not going to give any specifics. I'm a local driver. I pick up a loaded trailer in the morning, drive 250 miles and spend about 45 minutes getting unloaded then either deadhead or haul dunnage back. I do this Monday-Friday and have the option of doing it Saturday for an extra 4 cpm. Twice I've been given the option on a Saturday to deliver to a different location (same company) 500 miles away. Both times I did the trip off duty and logged out of the eld. I was extremely nervous when I did it and decided I'm not doing it again. I stop and sleep for 8 hours on the way back. Essentially, I did the trips while on my 34 hour reset. Not sure what the boss does to cover our tracks but what kind of trouble could I still get into if DOT found out I did it?

I want to clarify that my boss would have no problem with me running it legal and doing my 34 hour when I get back.
I definitely don't want prison. I'm legal from here on out.
Thanks for the replies!D.Tibbitt Thanks this. -
Then you need to learn to say the word no.
Worse that can happen is you getting fired. Document every time your boss asks you to run illegally. Tell him to call another driver for those loads. Especially those you literally do not have time for (Legally)JoeyJunk Thanks this. -
Trucker61016 Thanks this.

Doing it legally I would get back around 10am Sunday. I'd have to take Monday off because of how the schedule works during the week.

I'm not gonna give you a speech, since I've done that...however...do the opposite of NIKE..just DONT do it...for an extra 0.04 ain't worth the risk you're taking...like someone mention before it's all fun until someone gets hurt...as far as your boss "having your back" think again if he will be backing you up in front of a judge...he can say as simple I never told him neither I made him run illegal...that's just my 0.02...BE SAFE!!
Trucker61016, D.Tibbitt and JoeyJunk Thank this. -
Many of is has done it at one time or another. More money to be made. Personally, I finally realized I was just driving for the wrong company.
