    LOL

If you fall asleep behind the wheel, that's dangerous.

I think the first time I heard of sleep apnea was in the late 90's when a driver fell asleep at the wheel and killed a couple of people. In the trial part of his defense was undiagnosed sleep apnea. He ended up not going to jail so I guess it worked out for him.

Well, it seems not much has changed on the forum. :) Lots of different and intense opinions!!! Anyway, I never intended to infer that sleep apnea is a joke. I know too many who swear by the improved quality of life once they, usually begrudgingly, went through a sleep test and ended up using a cpap machine.
My intention was simply to try to get a feel for the effort and time frame it might take to acquire my medical certificate.
Guess what? I got my medical today. Only 'condition' is it is only for a year due to 'hypertension'. I had a previous high blood pressure reading. I had coincidentally gone to this same clinic about 6 months ago with a UTI (yes guys can get UTIs too). Their record showed that during that visit my blood pressure was high. (For the record, my history is more of a record of low blood pressure than high blood pressure)
Anyway, I'm happy that is out of the way! Simply brush up on the books and go take some tests to get my learner's permit and I'll be ready to really go have some fun!!!:mcool:

Post facts and back it up. Otherwise you’re talking out of your rear.
How many accidents since 2000 related to sleep apnea?

    booley and Tombstone69 Thank this.

Here’s how dangerous sleep apnea is

Regulators Pull Plan To Test Truckers, Train Operators For Sleep Apnea

“The decision didn't sit well with the National Transportation Safety Board. The agency, which has pushed for apnea screening and awareness, said it is "disappointed" by the move. The board cited its own findings that obstructive sleep apnea has been linked to 10 highway and rail accidents in the past 17 years.”

    10 accidents in 17 years..

    Tombstone69 Thanks this.

I've only witnessed one.I knew the company and I knew of the driver, he killed a woman after crossing the center median and 4 lanes of traffic and was still sleeping, sleep disorders and trucking do not mix, not fact, JMHO.

Wasn't that train wreck in NYC last year where the train went through the stop at the end of the line and killed an innocent woman just standing there. How many injured? 1 death is too many, IMO. There's 2.

Sleep apnea is not the issue. Not stopping if you’re tired is the problem

It is news to me within the last oh 14 years or so.

I appreciate you taking a moment to write. It is much appreciated.

I should just pose two questions that are a personal favorite.

    1st- Who benefits?

2nd- Ive seen way too many large people do well in life whatever it is they are doing. A part of me want to go back to those good old days again, but that's not going to happen as now we have hell of a Guinea Pig that managed to escape the pot.
