Probably can be an owner-operator with a courier van, then make the modifications yourself. Many of those outfits don't require a cdl.

Some hotshot trucks don't require a cdl and drivers remove the rear bench seat and install a bunk.
Frank Burns Thanks this. -
Unless it has changed, if everything else was 100%, the missing limb makes it a pain, and involves getting a variance or something to even get a cdl.
Possibly something like that courier, china town or any number of non cdl driving jobs, but you may have to wait till you have 3 years clear record.
Which begs to ask, have you ever had 3 years with no violations?Frank Burns Thanks this. -
This is my goal eventually, doing hotshot. I may end up dead before I get there though.Chinatown Thanks this.

I was only half joking with that. I bet they would take him.

Americans With Disabilities Act REQUIRES trucking companies to make reasonable accommodations if those will allow you do the job you are applying for. I guarantee you someone makes an add-on device that would allow a bolt-on modification to have the gas pedal on the other side of the brake pedal. The bigger companies already know this and any driver that needs an accommodation should know as well.Frank Burns and x1Heavy Thank this.

If that setup doesn't require a CDL than I guess not being able to log sleeper berth isn't a problem. Having a place to sleep in the truck and having a DOT sleeper are different things.
-
You have to be careful how you log that, I have seen them nail guys delivering 5th wheel travel trailers over the sleeper birth, and they have a HOUSE to sleep in. lol
x1Heavy Thanks this. -
Some hotshot setups require a cdl and some don't.
