Hey there. Yes, doing well. Going to retire this year I hope. Built a camper and going to drive around for a while. Delivered my last load on 1/27/2016 and went back to my programming job. Figured I mastered all the aspects of trucking and tried to teach @rank how to be profitable. That did not go well. All he wanted to do was watch Terrance and Philip all the time and eat bacon.
Horrible crash in Lakewood CO, I70 closed both directions. 12 vehicles 4 semi huge fire

I know one thing. I'm not parking at any truck stops. I lost count of how many times I was hit.

From what I read recently he is not going to wear an ankle GPS like the prosecutor wants. He can't drive a commercial vehicle and must stay in CO. His online funding page raised a crap load of money. Everyone is in agreement that this was an accident.
The truck was damaged so much that it can't be inspected. The company has a long list of violations and many are brake related. THAT'S THE KEY that will get him off light in my opinion. That and it was an accident and not intentional.rank Thanks this. -
The key question is why were you traveling at almost double the truck speed limit coming down that grade if your brakes only failed just prior to the crash? -
Correct me if I'm wrong but they had a so called expert on the subject and they said a trucks brakes fail when they get so hot that the drum expands and the shoes don't make contact anymore?
Don't trucks have disc? If the truck had disc and the trailer had drums is the truck enough to stop it?Last edited: Jun 12, 2019

at one time, it was more costly over drum brakes. now adays that cost "may have" dropped a bit, but this since i have not ordered a truck and never will can confirm pricings.
but let it be known, that disc brakes DO FADE TOO when they get super hot, and can catch on fire. i have personally seen this at a garage where a car was on a dyno, and the disc brakes was locked up...dumb so-called mechanic was not paying attention, darned rotor turned white hot, and a fire errputed......everyone bailed out of that garage.Last edited: Jun 12, 2019
