I am looking at a 2000 W900 Kenworth, I have cash, and being an experienced heavy mechanic so I can tell the good trucks. I have run under my own authority in the past. But with todays economy I am considering signing on with someone. I have been told most companies won't sign you on with a truck over 5 years old. Is that true?![]()
Are there any decent companies who will sign me on with an older truck?

there is a good many companies in the 8 to 10 year requirement. Once your in it's grandfathered so you don't have to upgrade it. Just look around.
Many companies are doing away with or loosening the age requirements as allot of people can't afford new trucks right now. I was amazed by a few companies though who were requireing a tractor 3 years old max, think I even found one that was two years -

the main reason these company's want new trucks is that they want you in debt so you will work like a dog and take the bad loads because you have to, whereas a guy with no payment can turn down the crappy loads
bigkw Thanks this.
