Sorry, I have worn boots all my life, I don't need a hard hat to drive a truck, if they require one for me to load, they can furnish it, plain and simple.
And gloves, who needs them, unless it is cold.

Anything you want to wear or not want to wear is okay, inside the truck. I've been known to jump out of the bunk, into the seat in socks and skivvies and drive for a couple hundred before getting dressed. When I drove triaxle(which was what I first drove after being down 9yrs after 2 bad surgeries)the other drivers called me "Pajama Pants", cause that's all I wore(I like to call them "Comfy" pants, cause they are). What anyone wears is their business and responsibility, but anyone that doesn't wear good foot protection outside the cab, is looking to loose a toe, or two, or.....

Take a look at the photos in the newspaper of the volunteers helping with sandbags in the flooded areas. Teenagers wearing shorts and flimsy shoes, etc. The farm boys, however, have on boots and appropriate gear, for the most part. Parents are not teaching their little darlings these days that you show up for work dressed for safety and efficiency. Same for about half the drivers out there it seems.

Teenagers will wear what they want, good luck trying to tell them different, I remember being one. As far as drivers go, what they wear or don't wear is their business, you could tell them what, but be prepared for the #1 answer, lol.

Who cares what someone wears inside their cab ? If it's not putting anyone in danger what business is that of anyone. If when interacting with others they meet the professional standard of the company and the safety standard of the particular location I couldn't care less what they do in the privacy of their cab.
That's one of the up sides of been a truck driver , not being micromanaged constantly.

Never even owned a pair of flip flops, and I don't want to look at your nasty feet. If you are set on wearing flip flops, at least keep them in the truck.
For me it's Red Wing lace-ups, all day every day. Even when I'm not working, it's still the Red Wings 90% of the time.

MACK E-6, Oxbow and old iron Thank this.
