Wow Longbow, nice miles. In March, Smiley Miles shined his ever lovin' light on me. This month has been abysmal at best, suicidal at worst. Especially since I only make the bottom rate of .34.

I'm slightly at or under 2k for the week. In March I barely had time to open the computer to pay my bills, which is how i like it. This month I've had enough time on my hands to write a novella.

Good thing I do not own a home, and my auto's are paid for huh? I basically either live in the truck or at my girlfriends house for "hometime". I honestly do not know how a driver at starting pay could remotely afford to support a family right now. I suppose I'm blessed...i dunno.

Emptied out here in Fremont, CA and after a few hours got a load going to
Twin Falls, ID. Picks tmrw AM and delivers Mon. AM... AT LEAST i'll be able to go thru the "house" and spend some time with my girlfriend.

Which is a good thing. And yes, I drive for Crete. I honestly think they are a good company and have done what they can to keep us movin...I just don't know where my March miles went.

    To Longbow I reckon.

I was out for 4 weeks and 3 days this time around and ended up with just under 13,000 miles. I was shocked when I figured it up because of the 3.5 days I sat in NJ and the 2 days I sat in E. Pa. not to mention the loads with way too much time on them.

When i emptied in Indy this morning I asked dispatch if they were able to move me if I were not going home and they said probably not till late tomorrow if then.

Economic lesson: March is the last month of a quarter for any business. This means that in order for manufactuers to avoid paying taxes on stock for the quarter, they ship out as much as possible. ergo, A rise in freight volume and our miles increase. This happens every three months like clock work. And, the last two weeks at the end of a business quarter are the busiest.

    Class dismissed!

As someone who used to work for Target and knows people who do: Most of the target loads I've unloaded had a Target trailer sitting here for this reason. However, a supervalu load (reefer) pulled by swift did not. We unloaded and that truck went on to West Palm or Melbourne to deliver its next load. Hope this helps.

I emptied out Thursday afternoon, I was out of the truck for about 3 hours talking to another Creten and missed a load going to New Hampshire. 370 miles and delivered Monday. I'm glad I missed it too.

That happend to me last year in El Paso. I went in to watch and join the Superbowl game (party) inside the Petro and after the game went back to the truck and noticed I was offered a load, but taken away because I took to long! What the? Everybody knows when the Bowl game is on (Im not a big pro football fan either), but it worked out for the better.

Oh yeah, it worked out better. Instead of having 380 miles in on Monday and spending a day or two waiting for a load, I got a KC load going to Tomah, WI.,so I'll have a 1015 miles in on Tuesday. I have today to kill. The other Crete driver left, Whew, he was a big Bush supporter and blamed this recession on Clinton, and Carter! I got a kick out of talking to him.
