I just got my truck fitted with a Samsung tablet instead of the Qualcomm units we always had on our trucks and I was wondering if anyone here has info more detailed info about this new bluetooth system that Schneider installs with the tablet.
Like, can Schneider use it as a listening device on the driver? The only benefit I see so far with this new system, is that I can connect my phone to it via bluetooth, even with the truck completely off! So its pretty neat to listen to music on my phone without having to connect to the aux line on the radio.

It doesn't ask for permissions. It just automatically connects when I click on it in my bluetooth settings on my phone.
I know when I connect my phone to a car with bluetooth capabilities, they always ask for permissions before connecting with my phone. But this bluetooth system on the truck doesn't.

ok, then look at your phone when conected to see what is there.

I know for me , I wouldnt trust them. and yes, I am a former driver. one who left on good terms to boot.

No, schneider cannot use it as a listening device. The bluetooth connects your device to the truck, and nothing else. If they installed the wifi hotspot - again it is just for the truck to talk to the tablet. There is no internet access on it. All connections to the outside run thru the tablet.

In theory, they could use the tablet as a snooping device, but as a practical matter it wouldn't be effective.
