Each state has thier own laws... And a concealed carry permit from one state may be recognized by a few other states. But to my knowledge there is no single permit that is recognized in all of the lower 48.

Many states you can have a gun in the truck without a carry permit, but some you can't I always figured it was better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6, but when I started running back and forth to Alaska, I quit carrying one.

    One for resources for carry.

*Disclaimer I joined this Association when they were live their first few months years ago and only had about 200,000 members and rising. Information provided by them is really good I'll offer you some examples.

United States Concealed Carry Association aka: USCCA

USCCA: Self-Defense Education, Training, & Legal Protection

I pay for platinum Insurance level since their founding years ago. Recently I think two years ago, the Insurance coverage was expanded from just Guns Crime etc to now include any form of self defense, either your fists, kitchen knife, lead pipe etc Provided you are the victim of a home invasion, castle doctrine and so on so forth.

Included in the information is Lawyers that you can pick and have on retainer so that if this does happen to you you will need to get Lawyer going regardless of the outcome.

Arkansas has a law that prohibits my employer from going outside to HIS or HER company vehicle parking lot and walk up to MY vehicle and search same for my gun etc. This was relatively new law for personal vehicles you use to commute to work here in this state. Previously to that change employers would get suspecting and go search and bingo, you are arrested and trespassed etc. Which raises a whole tumbleweed of problems.

There is another law in Arkansas that if you happen to hold a Medical pot license for possession and use of a very small amount prescribed to you, you lost your right and ability to possess legal weapons. The Law will go to your house and search, confisicating any and all weapons to be melted down and you will not be able to get the "Proceed" with the attempt to buy another at any FFL dealer in the USA.

There are states that does not honor Arkansas CHL. Such as Maryland. If I want to conceal carry in Maryland at all, I have to apply for a Maryland non resident license and if I should have one issued, then follow their guide lines with my weapon. A secondary check is to be sure my weapon and ammunition is legal in Maryland. I happened to possess one or two years ago that were NOT legal at all there. I'll have to revisit and update.

A additional issue. If you hold a CHL in Arkansas, your drivers license is also married to this card so that if a Bear drops into behind you, they read your tag then they already know you are a licensed carry should they decide to proceed with the stop for your speeding or whatever.

Arkansas CHL is divided into two levels. One is the basic concealed carry with about 20+ places you cannot carry into. Period. Subdivided by gun class, either revolver or semi automatic. If you shot with a semi then you earn a place that says "Any Legal Handgun" so if you think to have a .50 Desert Eagle handgun in the hat, you can do that too. (If you can get the #### thing to be concealed as in not printing through the fabric of your clothing.

The other level is Enhanced Carry. That means I have completed the prescribed 8 hour active shooter training with the Arkansas State Police and once issued this top level CHL I am allowed to carry into our State Capitol Building and visit our Legislature in the coffee koisk down the hall inside same. It also allows anyone who is 21 and over to possess in dorms (They are still wrestling with this one...) potentially turning a College Campus into a ad hoc army of 3000 people with legal guns and training to go after the active shooter situation)

The Enhanced carry permits one to enter a Major Airport front doors up to the ticket desk but no further. There are procedures in place for you to transport a gun and ammunition while you fly out somewhere. Just make sure it is never going to Jersey. You will be going to jail as soon Jersey understands the violation of being armed, ammuntion in violation and the number of rounds total in violation. As well as the not honoring your home state CHL which is another violation. They have not yet stopped writing charges against you on a whoops... Welcome to Joisy... ha.

The State does not recognize legally any other sources of your training. For example I have IDF basic Core level Handgun training which essentially includes going after terrorist. Once in a while they come to Arkansas or other places in the USA to provide training to you. But this is not recognized by my state. Which is ok. It's very good training.

You can also take on training that lightly covers Trauma via gun shot wounds in particular situation such as the torso, heart, lungs and so on. After this one day training course and you equipt yourself with the correct tools in a small bag you are now a very basic Medic. Just strictly for Gun shot wounds until Professional EMT's arrive and take over the care. I have had this training before and am a little rusty so I'll have to refresh it again.

Going into Trucking. IF I managed to reup to CDL A and go back to working with the McKesson people of Memphis, you can bet that I will be operating under a licensed carry dealing with these loads.

There are still some states you cannot go, which can be remedy by going online and getting non resident licenses there, which will gain you the ability to be CHL in those states not allowing Arkansas CHL.

If you were a Law Enforcement for 10 years with either Civilian Police Force recognized as such or a Military Police, which also includes for example those who protect Nuclear bombers, missiles and bases in the USAF. If you have your 10 years in, then you gain a very special level of privilege to carry under LEOUSA and with that particular rating in civilian life you enjoy the ability to carry into places that I cannot. Which provides the bad guy additional fear of his or her attack plans going wrong.

There is yet another path to your State's CHL. If you are Military say in Infantry, Armor, Artillery etc and your commander signs a particular state form, you will gain the right to carry.

    One more...

There is a special program which is either live and underway now or will be very soon. If you have a married couple and one batters the other (Assault and Battery Domestic) the one will be taken to jail and the battered spouse has the ability to petition the Court for lawful carry for specific protection. IF the court agrees, then that spouse is essentially issued a small weapon, papers to be legal carry for the duration of that particular case until resolved. This means a battered spouse probably will gain lawful carry overnight essentially. The aggressor now must back off once released from jail. Particularly if he or she knows that restraining orders, no contact orders and other paper orders have no meaning to them. A armed ex spouse does. And they would be less likely to hurt again.

There are many employers who do not allow guns. That's good. That's why I always say Concealed is Concealed. I already accept that if I am caught with one in the holster leaving the break room with coffee at work, they can prosecute me. The threat of that kind of prosection does not matter. Particularly if you are involved in something that makes it worth it to the bad guys to come attack.

I also carry when I get medicines etc. My pharmacy knows that I am armed. However I know they are armed as well. So it's the matter of clearing mutual lines of fire against bad guy which is not that difficult there.

Trucking carry becomes a problem when you show up on a Federal Installation, Military Bases, Airports etc. Because you simply cannot be armed.

It's alot of material I wrote. I tried to keep everything in a orderly manner.

I like Alaska law, anybody 21 and over can carry concealed or open, under 21 it has to be open. No restrictions for any legal firearm up to 50 BMG lol
We do have cc license if we want them, but the only real advantage to having one, is if you go outside, something like 33 other states honors it.
And we can legally shoot anybody that is robbing us, or someone else, none of that in your home business, or back off business.

We are not a stand your ground state yet. It will clear up new problems in life. Such as me on a walker under attack by three bad guys who think maybe i am a pushover.

We are not obligated to draw. So ###### if you do or ###### if you don't

This will end badly in a thousand different ways because the State has failed to be clear about "Stand your Ground"

Some days I think why do I worry about all this crap in life? Maybe I move to say... Beatty NV and nothing ever happens out that far away from Civilization. If it takes a hour for the Law to get to your place via 911 then you have to provide a means of effective self defense and a careful understanding of what is possible and what is not.

If I get sick enough to the point of being more dangerous with a gun then I'll cash in my fangs and throw away the insurances etc as a unnecessary expense. But I think we are a long way from that point.

In trucking I don't even want to consider what would have been if I had a gun with me several times that either I myself or the spouse or both of us were attacked by bad guys in or outside of our rig in life. The invasion of the sexual predator into our Century going after the spouse was the worst of it. It would have made such a mess with that sticky brain fluid all over the cab.

But no he ran away and Im sorry that he might have gotten away. Im happy neither one of us got hurt.

You can write 50000 rules, laws and so on under the blessed sun. But it's no barrier whatsoever to a bad guy who has decided to buy a weapon and go commit a crime with it. Particularly against a People in a no gun zone. Which has happened over and over and over again and will continue to happen.

Again if this area descends into violence equal to Baltimore downtown (Sand town comes to mind..) then I will move out west into a number of quiet spots a minimum of three hours from any town or city.

Vermont's law is better, there were no legal age limits and no other limits for that matter. They put in a law that has yet to be challenge in the courts (state or federal) - their constitution predates the federal constitution and has those safeguards in it to prevent state messing with guns.

If you're a company driver a lot of them have policies prohibiting weapons. But as others have said before - would you rather be be caught having a weapon or not having one?

Vermont now has an age limit...21.
Put in place after the Parkland, FL school shooting. Florida did the same also.

Lol I'm the opposite. I feel like I should be packing heat when I'm out in the wilderness vs the city. I'm more afraid of being mauled by a bear than being attacked by a crackhead. At least I know I've got a chance against a crackhead 1 on 1 lol.
