My store manager sells some CB Radio Antennas as well (10% goes to support us). A good CB Radio Antenna is essential for the best operation of your CB.

Warning !!!! You have accomplished nothing !! The knob is for calibrating and tuning....not adjusting. By turning the knob...you have done nothing to your SWR.

Take your truck to a shop and let them adjust it while mounted in it....otherwise you are going to continue to have issues.

3 foot antenna anything is junk! Go out and find a Wilson silver load or a skip shooter antenna that is 5 and a half feet tall. You will also need a 18 foot coax, Wilson makes a fine coax if you can find it at T stops. If there is no CB shop around then find a Radio shack or someplace that sales a cheap SWR meter and a 3 foot piece of coax that way you can set the antenna your self and save your self some cash. Attach the coax from the antenna to the meter and the the jumper from the meter to the radio. You want to set your SWR on channel 1 and 40. All you need to do it to adjust the small whip on the top of the antenna to about half way and start from there. The meter will have instructions on how you set it and you want the SWR to be less than 2.0 on channel 1 and 40. YOU DO NOT NEED wast your time trying to get the antenna set at a 1.1 SWR. As long as it's under 2 you WIL NOT blow your radio up or decrease its performance. The 1.1 thing is really on need if you will be using big power to keep you reflect low and or to put money into the pockets of lying CB shop's! My site has more than a few articles on SWR tips and tricks so you can look for your self. This will also go a long way in helping you understand the right and the wrong way to do things. http://kcscbradiowebsite.tripod.com/

This does not change the SWR.

The calibration knob is only functional for calibrating the meter.

You just "recalibrated" the meter to read incorrectly, low.

The way to adjust SWR is to adjust your antenna, either lengthen or shorten it. Some antennas are adjustable for this.

I was having the same problem. I would even get it tuned. Next day or two it would light up. Check it . It wad out. Ended up it was the new coax that came with antenna. Changed. Great ever since.

Glad you found the defective coax cable. Hope everything is good to go now. Congrats and good job on your part.
