Looking to find some stuff out on my 12.7 detroit and of course I have to wait till it won't drive another inch before I do, lol. Truck cranks but does not start. Saw forum on fuel issue. Line to pump is clear. Installed new pump. Still cranks but no start. Do not have diesel in coolant or oil.

Are the check engine lights coming on the dash, ( test mode) when key is turned on? If not, maybe the problem is the inline ecm fuse blown on positive battery cable small wire in the battery box. Or maybe the small ground wires going from batteries to frame. Take off and clean grounds. Check other grounds on frame especially, usually some near starter.

Yeah. I have questions about ECM as well. I have no small wires coming off of battery. ECM is getting power from somewhere though. When you turn key on, the lights will light for 5 sec. I was told this is how you check. Cont.

Engine will run on starting fluid. I took a siphon pump and was able to suck diesel up as far as the pump. Replaced pump. Hooked fuel pressure guage at secondary filter. Measure ments don't seem to correspond. Also, it is holding no fuel pressure. Goes as high as 40 psi on start fluid. Has me baffled. Don't know how to check ecm as there are no wires at battery and no fuses under dash.

Well, back to the fuel, I was able to access the rear of the head by removing the air cleaner assy somewhat. I got a FLD. I believe the return fuel line is the top line coming out of the head, only there is no check valve there as far as I can tell.i am about to go crank it over an ensure that I have fuel returning back from the head. But am running out of ideas.
