I am worried now about injectors that I don't see much fuel coming out return, but then as long as I cranked with no fire, if I had an injector open, I should notice a rise in oil, I would think.

I don’t fully understand it, but my guess is the old Bottom fed tanks had enough pressure from weight of fuel to prime themselves. New style with top draw works like a siphon hose. Has to be free of air leaks, and kept closed, or else prime is lost. I’m no mechanic, just a dumb ### Truck Driver killing time while being loaded. Lol good luck let us know if you get it started.

No a bad injector selinoid leaking into valvetrain, can’t leak that much fuel. Spray a lot yes, but still engine gets a lot more fuel than what’s needed, a lot would still be coming through return, how do I know? Because I ran mine 60 miles, dumping 10 gallons of fuel into oil. Only reason it shut down was due to excessive pressure. It still ran while leaking, plenty of fuel.

So you are telling me I can relax on the injectors? I hope this is good news. I did go crank on it some more. And now I see diesel draining out the return. Not much, but some. I am still baffled as there should be like a check valve at the rear of the head there, and there is none.
Could it possibly be further down the line?

It could be your cam position sensor or the crankshaft position sensor has gone bad. If either one goes out it will crank but not start.
You need to get it hooked up to a laptop to check codes and see what is wrong instead of throwing parts at it.

Done. All of the above. I worry about crank and cam sensor as I just changed them recently. Had the truck into detroit just before all of this and they swore there were no codes. The codes will flash to me if they are there. And being as there were no codes, this was why I took off in the fuel direction. And I am perplexed at why there is no check valve on the return. If I could get the system to go to 20 lbs and stay there, I would relax on that and go to something else like SRS/TRS. Or maybe even ECM.but but they say if you ain't got 20 lbs, your injectors ain't gonna function anyway.

Just stuck a wire in the 90 at th back of the block. And there seems to be no obstruction at the rear of the head and I looked as far down the hose as I could and there seems to be no check valves. Is there something in the cross over that will restrict flow?

I question the check valve situation. Also the fuel flow. These pumps are not positive displacement pumps, they are not self priming. They must be primed and should move a solid stream of fuel.

Never saw one anywhere but the back of the head. Never say always and always say maybe.

Well, I have it all hooked up. I went back and cracked the line at there secondary filter when somebody wondered about that. And fuel ran out. Now, I have the fuel line together all the way to the back of the head. If I crank, and look under the truck, I can see a little fuel running out. Just stuck on what might restrict the fuel and hold it in the line.
