    Ok?
Saying No to 6 weeks paid vacation- No cost medical insurance- 20k per year contribution to a pension- and a 100k salary..

Find me ANY large non union common carrier that can at least match that- and I'll say "NO" to unions too.

Im an Independent....But, I Tell all the younger kids if they want to make trucking a career, find a Good Job with Good benefits Union or not.

Today, to be honest, it is the LTLs that have the unions. I know UPS and some other private fleets are. My information is VERY old. Last I heard a lot of the LTLs are not doing that well and are not making money. This is not something I see a lot and honestly can't say for sure. I do know that as a percentage of the total union driving jobs are not what they were 20+ years ago.

Many companies, regardless of line of work, an individual employee is LUCKY to receive 1 or 2 weeks paid vacation, SOMETIMES 3 weeks paid vacation if the company is a really good sized company either staying afloat or possibly earning a profit.

God bless every American and their families! God bless the U.S.A.!

There are college graduates with MBA degrees and highly skilled / highly experienced technicians and tradespeople who will NEVER see $100,000 a year.

Many companies, regardless of line of work, an employee is LUCKY to have any quality of medical insurance, whether it is low cost or high cost.
No cost medical insurance is almost the equivalent of asking for the moon, virtually unheard of.

An individual employee, regardless of line of work, is LUCKY if he or she works for a company that even offers a pension plan.
Many companies ONLY offer 401(K) plans, if that at all. Employees being offered the 401(K) plans are LUCKY if the employers match employee contributions with 1% to as high as 6%, (often with a cap), providing the companies can both afford it or are feeling generous on their part.

It is one thing to ask for decent pay and benefits. It is another thing to BITE THE HAND THAT FEEDS YOU.
This is an outright case of the employee putting himself or herself into a position of flat out being PRICED OUT OF A JOB.
Many individuals would call this being outright GREEDY.

God bless every American and their families! God bless the U.S.A.!

Why do you think most union trucking companies have gone out of business.
A couple of years ago I was hauling on a union job, come friday one of the company drivers parked his truck an hour ahead of time, we all ad to park at the same time and ride out with escorts, we were in a secure missile site area. I got into it with him, but like he said he will get paid his 12 hours anyway, but it took 160 bucks out of my day. Tuesday of the next week, they told me they would have to cut back some trucks, since I was the only OO, naturally I was gone BUT he then ask if I would stay and drive one of their trucks. lol Guess who went home, plus his wife that drove another one. lol

    Two thoughts.

Most freight that is moved outside of rail, is moved by non-union companies in a near free market environment. Putting a union into the mix will remove the free market portions of it and replace it with one run by inflation.

Most of these benefits and all of that are in fact paid for by taking more out of the market and allowing inflation to be forced into every load, rates wil go up at the same time so will work slow down drastically and that will kill off more than just the marginal companies.

As for unions themselves, not making this political in any way but when a union promotes foreign interjection in labor markets like the teamsters have done over immigration, it is time to think many of them are really past usefulness.
