I have worked for the same company for 14 years and it has all been in South Korea but the company is in Texas so that should not be a problem.
I have always heard it was a great company and have always been interested in driving. I started to retire at 62 but have a pretty good job here in Korea so decided to stay until 66.

I guess at 66 and no cdl yet it is probably going to be tough to get a job where I am home daily but thought it is worth a try.
Almost 24 years in aviation and 14 with company I work for now.
    Good driving record.
As far as background check, I have a secret clearance.
It is not real important that I work but thought trucking would be something I might like. But I have no desire to go OTR or out with some Mega company that wants to send me home a couple days a month.
So maybe I wont find anything but willing to get my cdl if a local job is available.
Really hate to spend $5K and not get a job I am looking for :(

    Really appreciate the info !

Working for OD is a full time, long hours job.
Great company don’t get me wrong, but they will work you to death. Unless I need the money I wouldn’t want to work here after I retire.
Check the mail haulers. Easy job and you can find a run that is more suitable for you.

Sodrel said they would hire me if I go to their school for my CDL. But that too is going to be a long day I think. I live about 60 miles north of Indy in Kokomo so that will add a couple of hours a day just getting to work and back.
Any mail hauler companies you can suggest ?

    Thanks

The three big mail haulers in Indy are Sodrel, Ursa and Eagle Express.

I always hear good things about Eagle and if you don’t need their health insurance they pay up to and over $30 an hour for a lot of runs. I would say go for USPS because they don’t care how old you are but you don’t have the experience yet for them.

I talked to an OD Indy driver and he said they over hired big time last year so I would avoid them if I were you. Also look into R&L, they’re one of the few freight companies on the way north side since your in Kokomo.

R+L isn't firm on experience. Trucks run 70 but their equipment isn't great and their pay is less than OD and a lot of other companies. You'll drive a new truck and it'll be an auto most likely.

I live near Indy and have been scouring their website trying to see open Linehaul positions but can’t find any. Since you work there you might know. Are they hiring Linehaul now? Thanks

It's the slow part of the year right now so hiring is on hold at the moment. If you're interested keep checking on it. Sometimes it takes a while to get in, but it is well worth the effort. Keep an eye on the Brownsburg terminal too. It was originally intended to be a mainly city hub, but it just keeps growing and they run quite a bit of linehaul there now.
